Desktop keyboard shortcuts

Every keyboard shortcut the desktop app registers, what it does, and why they keep working while another app has focus.

Every shortcut is global

The desktop app registers its shortcuts with the operating system rather than with its own window. They fire while the app is running, whichever app has focus, so you never have to click the overlay first.

This is what makes the app usable in a real interview: you can be typing in a code editor, reading a shared document or looking at a video call, and still capture the screen or generate an answer without moving the mouse. It also means the app takes precedence over the same key combination in whatever app you are using.

Combinations you may already use elsewhere

While the desktop app is running, ⌘/Ctrl + R resets the session rather than reloading a page, ⌘/Ctrl + L deletes the last screenshot rather than focusing a browser address bar, ⌘/Ctrl + Q quits LastRound AI rather than the app in front of you, and ⌘/Ctrl + Arrows move the overlay rather than the cursor. Quit the app with ⋮ → Close App when you want those keys back.

Capturing and answering

The four keys you use most during an interview. Answer works from the live transcript in Live mode and from the screenshot queue in Code mode.

Two keys for the same thing

⌘/Ctrl + Enter and ⌘/Ctrl + Space both generate an answer. On macOS, ⌘ + Space is Spotlight's default, so it reaches the app only if you have changed or turned off the Spotlight shortcut in System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts. Use ⌘/Ctrl + Enter if you have not.

Starting, ending and muting

Start a session in the mode you need without opening the overlay first, and end it from the keyboard when the interview finishes.

Ending a session stops billing

Credits are charged for the time between Start and End, so end the session as soon as the interview is over. The copilot guide explains exactly how a session is billed.

Hiding, moving and resizing the overlay

The overlay is already excluded from screen capture. These keys are for your own screen: getting it out of your eyeline, moving it away from the code you are reading, or making it big enough for a long answer.
