Desktop app: download, install and permissions

   Step 1: Open the download page

   Sign in to the web app, then open Download Desktop App. You can reach it from the dashboard banner (Download for macOS / Download for Windows), from the sidebar card Interview invisibly, or directly at the link below.

   Step 2: Pick your build

   The page shows Recommended for your Mac or Recommended for your Windows with a Download button. Click Show other platforms to see every build.

   

   • Mac (Apple Silicon): LastroundAI-macOS-arm64-<version>.dmg
   • Mac (Intel): LastroundAI-macOS-x64-<version>.dmg
   • Windows: LastroundAI-Windows-<version>.exe

   Already installed?

   The same page has an Open the app button that launches the installed desktop app instead of downloading again.

   Step 3: Open the .dmg and drag LastRound AI to Applications

   Double-click the downloaded .dmg in your Downloads folder. In the window that opens, drag the LastRound AI icon onto the Applications folder. Eject the disk image when done.

   Step 4: Open it the first time

   Open Applications, double-click LastRound AI. macOS shows a one-time notice that the app was downloaded from the internet. Click Open.

   

   No Open button?

   Right-click (or Control-click) the app in Applications and choose Open, then confirm. On newer macOS versions you may instead need System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway.

   Step 5: Run the installer

   Double-click LastroundAI-Windows-<version>.exe. If Windows SmartScreen shows Windows protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway. The installer lets you choose the installation folder, then offers to launch the app when it finishes.

   • A Start menu and desktop shortcut named LastRound AI are created.
   • Windows does not normally prompt for microphone access for desktop apps. If nothing is heard later, check Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone and make sure desktop apps are allowed.

   Step 6: Welcome

   Read the three value props, tick I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and click Continue. There is also a Prefer to watch? 3-minute walkthrough link.

   Step 7: Sign in

   Use Continue with Google (a Google window opens inside the app) or enter your email and password and click Sign in. New users can click New here? Create an account, fill in full name, email and a password, click Create account and enter the 6-digit code from the Check your email screen. Your credits, resume and preferences sync with your account.

   No API key needed

   Older guides mentioned generating an API key on the website. That step no longer exists; you simply sign in inside the app.

   Step 8: Permissions

   The Two quick permissions screen lists Microphone and Screen recording. Click Allow on each. Both are required for live interviews; nothing is recorded or uploaded. The next section explains what macOS and Windows show.

   Step 9: How you'll use it

   Four keys run everything: ⌘/Ctrl + B hide or show the overlay, Space get an answer, ⌘/Ctrl + H screenshot a problem, ⌘/Ctrl + Arrows move the overlay. Then choose when answers appear: When I ask (recommended, fewer credits) or Automatically when the interviewer stops speaking. You can change this later in Settings.

   Step 10: Quick checks

   Three optional checks: See how live suggestions work (Start), Try coding assistance (Open) and Check what others see (Check), which shows a QR code so you can confirm from your phone that LastRound AI is not visible on a shared screen. Click Finish setup. All three are available later under Settings.

macOS

   Step 11: Microphone

   macOS shows a system prompt the first time. Click Allow. To change it later open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and switch on LastRound AI.

   Step 12: Screen recording (and system audio)

   macOS asks to let the app record this computer's screen and audio. Click Open System Settings, switch on LastRound AI under Screen & System Audio Recording, then return to the app. macOS applies this permission only to a freshly launched app, so the wizard shows One-time relaunch with a Relaunch now button. Click it; setup resumes where you left off.

   

   

   Granted it, but the app still says not granted?

   Quit the app fully (⌘ + Q) and open it again; macOS only re-reads Screen Recording permission on launch. Then click Re-check status in the wizard, or Settings → Compatibility later.

Windows

   Step 13: Microphone and screen capture

   Windows grants screen capture to desktop apps by default and manages microphone access under Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone. Make sure Microphone access and Let desktop apps access your microphone are on. The wizard's System Settings link opens the right page.

   • If screenshots fail, check that antivirus or endpoint software is not blocking screen capture.
   • Meeting audio is captured from the default playback device. Keep the meeting on your normal speakers or headphones; no Stereo Mix or virtual cable is required.

   Step 14: Updates

   When a new version is available an Update to v… chip appears in the toolbar; click it to download, then Restart now. You can also use Settings → About → Check for updates. Updates are only offered in the installed app, not in the disk image.

   Step 15: Uninstall

   First run Settings → Privacy & Local Data → Clear local data before uninstall to remove sign-in tokens, cached transcripts, resume and screenshots from the computer. Then on macOS drag LastRound AI from Applications to the Trash; on Windows use Settings → Apps → Installed apps → LastRound AI → Uninstall.
