Before the interview
Use the practice question
Most one-way interview platforms offer a practice question. Use it to check that the app hears the prompt and that the overlay sits where you can read it.
Place the overlay near your camera
Reading from the middle of the screen looks like looking away on the recording. Move the overlay with ⌘/Ctrl + Arrows.
Test the audio
Interview Setup → Audio check confirms the app can hear your computer's sound.
Where to be careful
- HireVue is on our compatibility list but has not been marked verified yet. Treat the practice question as your test before the real one.
- The recording shows your face, so reading an answer word for word looks like reading. Use the answer as an outline and speak in your own words.
- Some one-way interviews state that outside help is not allowed. Those rules apply.

Does LastRound AI work with HireVue?
HireVue runs in your browser, and the desktop app can read its prompts from your computer's audio or from a screenshot. HireVue has not been marked verified in our compatibility checks yet, so use the practice question to test your setup first.
Is the overlay visible in the recording?
One-way interviews record your webcam, not your screen, so the overlay is not in the video. Where you look is: keep the overlay close to your camera.
What about Spark Hire and other one-way platforms?
They work the same way: spoken prompts are transcribed from your computer's audio and text prompts can be captured. Test with a practice question first.
How much does it cost?
Sessions bill 1 credit per minute, rounded up, from Start to End. Every account gets 15 free credits a month, so you can try it on a practice round before paying. Paid plans add more credits each month.
