Cyient Interview Questions (2026): Real, With Answers

A mechanical engineering graduate showed up to a Cyient campus drive expecting a design-heavy conversation about CAD tools and got, instead, forty-five minutes split between number series problems and a C programming MCQ block. That mismatch between what candidates prepare for and what actually shows up is the single most common complaint in reported Cyient interview experiences. Cyient hires across mechanical, electrical, embedded software, geospatial (GIS), and enterprise IT roles from the same broad talent pipeline, so the early rounds lean generic (aptitude, reasoning, verbal, a core-branch technical MCQ) before the process narrows into the actual job.

The process candidates describe most consistently online is a two-stage technical structure once you clear the written test: an L1 round that is an internal Cyient panel checking core skills, and an L2 "client round" where the actual client team you'd be staffed on assesses fit for their specific project (Glassdoor, 2026). That client-facing L2 is unusual among IT services firms in how explicitly candidates report it being separated from the internal technical bar, and it shows up again and again as the round people feel least prepared for, because the questions turn scenario-based and project-specific rather than staying in textbook territory.

This page groups roughly 50 questions the way candidates actually report encountering them: the online assessment, the coding round, core CS fundamentals, embedded C and protocols (a heavy theme given Cyient's aerospace, semiconductor, and industrial engineering client base), the L1 technical interview, the L2 client/architecture round, and the HR round. Reported difficulty sits at a below-average 2.75 to 2.91 out of 5, with a 70 percent positive experience rate, and an average hiring timeline in the 10 to 14 day range (Glassdoor, 2026).

Online assessment: aptitude, reasoning, verbal, and a core-domain MCQ

Nearly every reported Cyient path starts here, and candidates who skip prepping for it because they assume it's "just a formality" are the ones who get stuck. Reports describe a roughly 45 to 75 question test split across quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and verbal English, followed by a separate core-domain block (C programming for CS/ECE streams, or discipline-specific basics for mechanical and electrical candidates), run in a 45 to 75 minute window depending on the drive.

Add the rates with sign for the outlet pipe. Pipe one fills 1/12 of the cistern per minute, pipe two fills 1/15, the outlet empties 1/20. Combined rate is 1/12 + 1/15 minus 1/20. Using a common denominator of 60, that's 5/60 + 4/60 minus 3/60, which is 6/60, or 1/10. So the cistern fills in 10 minutes with all three running together.

This exact pipes-and-cisterns format shows up repeatedly in the aptitude section. The trick examiners rely on is candidates forgetting to subtract the outlet's rate rather than add it, so always check whether a pipe fills or empties before you plug it into the sum.

Write out the alphabet position of each letter in the example word first, then find the arithmetic relationship, a constant shift, an alternating shift, or a reversal, between the given letters and the coded letters. Apply that exact relationship to the new word one letter at a time rather than trying to spot the pattern by eye.

The fastest failure mode here is assuming a single consistent shift when the pattern actually alternates (add 1, subtract 2, add 1, subtract 2...). Test the pattern against at least three letter pairs from the example before committing, because a pattern that fits the first two letters by coincidence is a common trap in these sets.

Compute percentage change year over year, not raw difference. Percentage increase is (this year minus last year) divided by last year, times 100. A year can have the largest raw jump in absolute numbers while a smaller earlier year has a bigger percentage jump if the base was small.

Do the division for every year pair rather than eyeballing the bars, because DI questions in this format are deliberately built so the visually largest bar-to-bar gap is not the correct answer once you compute the ratio properly.

Swap characters from both ends toward the middle using two pointers.

java
void reverseString(char[] s) {
  int left = 0, right = s.length - 1;
  while (left < right) {
    char temp = s[left];
    s[left] = s[right];
    s[right] = temp;
    left++;
    right--;
  }
}

Candidates report this exact prompt, sometimes phrased as "reverse a sentence's words in place," which needs an extra pass to reverse word order after reversing the whole string and each word individually. Know both variants before you walk in.

Loop through the string once, checking each character against both uppercase and lowercase vowels.

c
int countVowels(char str[]) {
  int count = 0;
  for (int i = 0; str[i] != '
