Open System Settings (or Activity Monitor on Mac) with the tool running before you ever use it live. If you can see “pmodule” listed as a process, so can a proctor with the same access.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Parakeet AI’s own FAQ page includes a sentence most competitors would never publish: “There is currently no way to change the ParakeetAI process name (pmodule) in Activity Monitor.” That’s not a leaked detection report or a Reddit complaint. It’s the company telling you, in writing, exactly how it can be found. Whether that matters for your interview depends entirely on the room you’re sitting in, and that’s worth mapping out before you rely on it in a round that counts.<\/p>\n

How Parakeet AI’s stealth actually works<\/h2>\n

Parakeet AI runs as a desktop overlay on Windows and macOS. Like most tools in this category, it tries to keep its window out of what screen-share software captures and sends to the person on the other end of the call. On Zoom specifically, that exclusion isn’t automatic. Getting invisible requires you to manually turn on “Advanced capture with window filtering” in Zoom’s own settings, and you need a current Zoom build for it to work. Skip that step, or run an outdated Zoom client, and the overlay shows up in the interviewer’s view. That’s a meaningfully different setup burden than a tool where stealth is on by default the moment you install it.<\/p>\n

The macOS side is where the honesty gets interesting. The process name pmodule appears in Activity Monitor whether stealth is engaged or not, and the FAQ says flatly there’s no way to hide it. On your own personal laptop, nobody’s opening Activity Monitor mid-interview. On a company-issued Mac with endpoint monitoring software watching running processes in the background, that’s a different situation entirely, and it’s one Parakeet AI doesn’t fully control.<\/p>\n

I don’t think this makes Parakeet AI worse than its competitors, necessarily. A few hide their process names more thoroughly, but they also make bigger undetectability claims without disclosing the exceptions. Parakeet AI’s FAQ reads more like an engineer wrote it than a marketer did, which counts for something even if the underlying gap is real.<\/p>\n

Interview Sidekick’s review of Parakeet AI, last updated in May 2026, covers the same three exposure points from a slightly different angle and adds one more: Parakeet has “a meaningfully lower public review footprint than Cluely or Final Round AI” and no Trustpilot or G2 profile as of that writing. Fewer public reviews likely means fewer dedicated anti-cheating playbooks target it specifically. That’s not the same as being safe, just less tested against.<\/p>\n
